| Membership in the ensemble requires a desire and commitment on the part of the student to sacrifice for the good of the total ensemble. This includes time for rehearsals, individual playing, meetings, and adopting the attitude that places the needs of the group on par with that of the individual. It includes parent/guardian support and encouragement for their children to play on a regular basis and to support any performance opportunities throughout the year program. | ||
| We participate in the Virginia Beach All City Band program and the Virginia Music Educators National Conference, District II Honors Band/Orchestra, and Solo and Ensemble Contest. | ||
| The primary purpose for the existence of this musical program is the education of the students in the art of reading music and having fun playing an instrument. The instrumental program is both a curricular and extracurricular activity. It does not fall neatly into either category because the classroom program of study requires out of school participation. Therefore, the ensemble class is probably one of the most unique courses in the school. | ||
